For the last session, participants are encouraged to adapt recipes by reducing saturated fat and increasing fibre content. Some individuals might bring a sample of home baking for the group to taste. The participants play the
‘Are you an X-PERT?’ board game which has been designed from the ‘what is diabetes?’ interactive poster used in week one and reinforces the main messages from the structured education programme. Feedback from these sessions is very positive because participants are able to reflect on how much they have learnt. Healthy eating recipes are available and everybody who completes the programme is awarded a certificate. Each participant is asked to complete an evaluation questionnaire to score the X-PERT Programme for enjoyment & usefulness, degree of self-management adopted, impact on health and impact on living with diabetes
