The supermarket tour has been a successful development in diabetes service provision. Evaluations from previous tours have shown that it provides participants with the practical knowledge they desire whilst dispelling the myth that people with diabetes need a special diet. The learning process is two way, because it also helps the tutor to gain insight into the nutritional habits of different ethnic groups.
